Most modern vans, including those at Kuperus, are equipped with AdBlue.

AdBlue is the registered trade name for AUS32, a 32.5% solution of urea in demineralized water, used as an additive in diesel vehicles to reduce emissions. The trademark is owned by the German automotive industry association (VDA).
AdBlue is stored in a separate tank in trucks, buses, and tractors. The fluid is injected into the hot exhaust gases before a special catalyst. The nitrogen oxides produced during combustion are converted into nitrogen and water. AdBlue consumption is approximately 3 to 5% of diesel consumption.

The business association Evo has created an overview of European countries and the use of winter tires for vehicles registered in the Netherlands. View the overview here.

Code 95 is an indication on the driver’s license, placed after a vehicle category. This code is mandatory for the professional driving of a vehicle for which a C1(E), C(E), D1(E), or D(E) license is required. The code is valid for five years and can be renewed by completing periodic training. Code 95 is mandatory for all professional drivers from the EU and for professional drivers working within the EU.

In countries such as Germany and Belgium, you are required to pay tolls. This is done using an OBU (On-Board Unit), which registers where & when you have been in the respective country. The OBU for Belgium can be rented from us for €9.00 per day, and the toll will be settled with you afterwards. Are you also driving in Germany? Then all our trucks can be registered with Toll Collect. It is best to inform us at least 3 days in advance. You can use the toll station terminal in Germany. The procedure is described here. For more information about tolls in Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Austria, visit Go MAUT or ask us about the possibilities.
More information about tolls in Belgium can be found here: evofenedex.nl

In our vans up to 22m³, you can drive with a Category B driver’s license. For our trucks, you need a Category C driver’s license. Check the website of the government for more information about driver’s licenses.

Eurovignettes & Environmental Zones

An international driving permit has no validity within the European Union. Outside the European Union, however, it is required in some countries. For the most up-to-date information about the international driving permit, please visit the website of the ANWB.

You are allowed to take the vehicle abroad. The cost is €10.00 incl. VAT per day for the green card. You can indicate during your reservation whether you will be traveling abroad and to which country. Please contact us for options such as unlimited mileage.

When driving through Europe, it’s almost unavoidable: tolls! Many countries charge tolls on major transit roads or require a vignette. In addition, an environmental sticker is required in many German cities: Toll overview abroad, Environmental sticker for German city centres and Environmental zones/sticker in France
Also pay attention to environmental zones in France and city centres in Germany What about environmental zones in France, where do you need an environmental sticker?
Under new legislation (Crit’Air), French cities and departments can establish environmental zones. There are two types of environmental zones:

  • A permanent environmental zone (Zone à Circulation Restreinte, ZCR). You are only allowed to enter with a valid environmental sticker (Crit’Air vignette). Example: the city center of Paris. A permanent zone applies year-round, but may be limited to certain times, for example weekdays from 8:00 to 20:00. Outside these hours, there is no environmental zone and vehicles without a sticker are allowed access, unless a temporary environmental zone has been introduced. (See also the detailed information below about Paris.)
  • A temporary environmental zone (Zone de protection de l’air, ZPA). A valid environmental sticker is only required here in case of (prolonged) extreme air pollution (pollution peak). If there is no extreme air pollution, you can enter this zone without a sticker.

There are six different stickers: green (0), purple (1), yellow (2), orange (3), red (4), and grey (5). Which sticker you need depends on the type of vehicle (car, motorcycle, moped, etc.), the level of CO2 emissions (Euro standard), and the age of the vehicle. Read here more about these French environmental zones and the required stickers. Also view here for information about the environmental sticker for German city centres.
