Terms and Conditions for Windscreen and Tire Insurance
  • The terms and conditions for the Windscreen and Tire Insurance supplement the “General Rental Conditions for Members of the Car Rental Section of the BOVAG Members Association.” The definitions stated in these general terms also apply to the Windscreen and Tire Insurance (i.e. the waiver of the deductible for windscreen and tire damage).
  • Under the rental agreement concluded with the renter, the lessor is entitled to charge an amount up to the agreed deductible for each identified case of damage. The lessor offers the renter the option, for a fixed premium, to fully waive the deductible for “pure” windscreen and tire damage.
  • “Pure” windscreen and tire damage refers to damage to the windows and/or tires of the rented vehicle that occurs during the rental period, arises independently, and is therefore not part of a more extensive comprehensive (body) damage. If windscreen and/or tire damage occurs as part of a broader comprehensive damage, the renter remains fully liable for the agreed deductible.

The following are excluded from the Windscreen and Tire Insurance:

a. Damage to mirrors and light units
b. Damage to interior windows and glass within the vehicle
c. Consequential damage (e.g. an accident caused by a tire blowout or interior water damage resulting from window damage)
d. Cases in which the renter is fully liable for the damage under the general terms and conditions
e. Tire damage resulting from overloading the vehicle
f. Damage consisting of the loss of windows or tires, including the spare wheel
g. Damage to windows resulting from theft with forced entry, where the renter’s belongings with a value exceeding €250.00 are stolen

  • In cases a, b, and c, the renter’s liability is limited to the deductible agreed in the rental agreement. In cases d, e, f, and g, the renter is fully liable for all damages incurred.
  • The fixed premium for the Windscreen and Tire Insurance remains payable in full, even if no windscreen and/or tire damage occurs. In such cases, the paid premium cannot be refunded or offset against unpaid invoices.
  • The Windscreen and Tire Insurance terms do not have independent validity. These terms are only valid in conjunction with an underlying rental agreement concluded for the same vehicle and rental period.
